Spark
Project Summary
I acted as the creative director of an adventure-puzzle game that focuses on thoughtful problem-solving, selfless action, and energizing mechanics. This project's timeline was about four months, where I oversaw a team of five in creating the game's levels, mechanics, and art. I also undertook all publishing efforts for our release on Steam.
Goals
I aimed for this project to be a lesson in how to work on a game start to finish with limited resources at hand. I also had a clear goal of launching the project on Steam to have the game available on a well-known and accessible platform.
* Reach the finish line on time and with a polished final product
* Learn the intricacies of publishing, marketing, and product launches
* Get hands-on with various technical and creative disciplines in games
Challenges
One issue that I faced when working on this project was determining the best approach to launching our game. I took ownership of the publishing process, teaching myself the setup required to release on Steam. I also faced the all-too-common issue of communication amongst my team. By setting up common methods to communicate, these issues could be addressed.
* Leading an interdisciplinary development team
* Heeding deadlines and available time to work on the project
* Creating a cohesive and engaging experience for players
* Establishing clear methods of communication between team members
Outcomes
I was able to learn the publishing process from start to finish, as well as practicing the valuable skill of time management while keeping track of deadlines for release.

When leading a team in development, I practiced constant communication to ensure we were all on the same page. This was a great exercise in interdisciplinary development, and the effort that is required to achieve quality results.
